Merlion Agent is a compact, statically-linked Rust CLI reimplementation of Nous Research’s hermes-agent, intended for developers and power users who want an interactive, tool-capable LLM agent locally or bridged to messaging platforms. It’s an early MVP that focuses on core agent workflows rather than Hermes’ broader feature set. Key features: - Interactive streaming chat with tool calls and tool-output rendering - OpenAI-compatible LLM client supporting 200+ models and native adapters (Anthropic, Gemini, Bedrock, Vertex AI, etc.) - Built-in tools (bash, read/write/edit, ls, grep, web_fetch, memory, skill management) - SQLite-backed persistent sessions with FTS5 search and per-session memory files - Skill system, tool-approval gate, cron scheduler, MCP integration, Telegram/Discord/Slack gateways - Portable install/build, MIT license Not feature-complete; see ROADMAP.md for planned items.
