terminal-history-mcp is a local MCP server that indexes and lets you query your shell command history (zsh, bash, fish) from MCP-compatible clients (Claude Code, Cline, Cursor, Zed, etc.). It stores history in a local SQLite DB with FTS5 for fast full-text search and scrubs secrets before insertion (e.g., GitHub PATs, OpenAI keys, Slack tokens, AWS keys, JWTs). Key features: - Full-text and prefix search across history (search_history) - Capture cwd and exit codes via optional shell hook to enable recent_in_dir and failed_commands - command_chains to show surrounding commands by time window - reindex to parse history and extended logs - Local-only storage at ~/.terminal-history-mcp/history.db; nothing is uploaded - Install via npm or connect instantly with mcpize; can be wired into MCP clients via stdio config.
