Agent Action Runner is a TypeScript backend layer for exposing existing service methods as controlled, agent-callable actions. It’s intended for backend engineers who want agents (LangChain, Vercel AI, OpenAI Agents SDK, MCP clients, etc.) to invoke business logic safely without granting database or arbitrary-code access. Key features: - Action registry and sequential JSON workflow runner - Input/output validation (Zod 3/4), mode enforcement (read/dryRun/mutate) - Policy, human-approval, and audit hooks with payload minimization - Dry-run, idempotency-key support, retry/timeout, and cooperative AbortSignal - Adapters: NestJS, Express, Fastify, MCP exporter, CLI, OpenTelemetry, and testing helpers Status: experimental (pre-1.0).
